Back in B-ton. Glad to be back. Realized that it’s ok to feel like shit while you taper.

Post race food: 7 bananas, 4 oranges, 1 grape fruit, 1 pear,  a larabar and a veggie burger with fries.

Received 1st price in my age group. Finished 7th overall.

Post race runner’s high!!! Best freakin’ race I’ve ever done. Average pace : 3.55 min /K. Exactly what I was aiming for.

Race starts: 8.10 a.m. Cold, but with a smug burning spark inside.

8.00 am. race supposed to start. race instead being pushed back.

7.55 a.m. At the startline. Still no warm-up.

7.50 a.m. running to the car to leave stuff.  Not warmed up.

7.45 a.m. in the woods, taking a huge loose crap.

7.42 a.m. finding bathroom tissue at the drop off station.

7.41 a.m. stomach pain. seriously need to poo.

7.35 a.m. queuing for bag drop. feeling like shit.

7.30 a.m. arrive at parking lot. see the line for the porta-let. will not be possible to use it.

7.20 a.m. sitting in a car, feeling alright.

6.15 a.m. having breakfast ( 2 bananas, 1 orange, a larabar.)

5.15 a.m. waking up. can’t sleep.

12 a.m. falling to sleep.

8-10.30 p.m. Seeing the best performance so far in my life of the Monteverdi Vespers ( with Apollo’s fire ), in Cleveland, OH.

6 p.m. Indian food at Danny’s place. Ordered really spicy food. should probably not have done so.

Saturday- having a great day in Cleveland, Ohio, with Kidneykutter.

Week before the race: feeling sore, trash, pretty much like shit after the nasty fall on the trail last week. Unsure whether I’ll be able to finish the 13.1 miles.
